L. hungarica Sp. n. is a peculiar Species: in keys for drosophilid genera se . g. BACH LI l 998) it keys out to the subfami ly Drosophilinae as regards the positionos fronto- orbitat s. It is without a clo se relative in the western Palaearctic fauna. Iis closest relative is probab ly LeucoPhengia sorii KANG. LEE et B AHNG. l 965 Fig. 6) known frona Solith Korea. However, as seen On Fig. 6 the SurStyluS Ofthis species is longer and more quadrate Fig. 6 'CU) when compared to the newspecies: iis cerci seem comparative ly larger and also in ner genitalia are different. AN G et al. sl 965) did not de marcate phallus and phallapodeme but the apicathais of the phallus seems thinner in L. Sorti: as for the paramere S sparaphySe S), tho se of the L. hungarica are more flender in their mediat portion: the ratio of the hypandrium and gonopods to the phallus is convincingly different Figs 2-3, cf. Fig. 6 'AV). L. Sorii has always a dark hand on iis fili tergite, though mediat lyinterrupted. It is se id om that the caudat margin of the fili tergite is sonaewhat darked in L. hungarica hut this difference in colour is probab ly not a sala character that would make it possibie to differentiate these two species. While S. ConSimiliS Sp. n. is similar to S. Similis LASTOV A et M ACA l 982 in iis body characters, iis genitalia show a peculiar Set os characters, where thedifferent genital structu res are similar to those of different species. This is whywe do not thin k that S. conSimilis would he a sister- species of S. SimiliS.
