It will be 'sen that the proparation of this confection is much simplifod, and probably without any diminution of iis powers. The infusion os et edoary was of so litile importance that water is substituted for it, and the saTron, which was be- fore used only in infusion, is here added in substance. The sermer lenitive electuary has been considered as an elegant and effectuat preparation, and is there re retained vithout alteration. Cheaper modifications of it are Eept in many shops, containing more active purgatiVe matters, and such are improperly substituted for it When ordered; sor in the smali quantity whicli constitutes a dose the difference of price can scarcely be an objecta The senna and coriander feeds are po dered together, the lalter not being easily reduci ble to poWder alone, and the remaining fibroas part of thesenna whicli possesses as much pomer as the other part of the leaves, but is more dissicultly powdered, is used sor the decoction, to whicli the other ingredients are aster ards added.
